The Zaale's Home Stay
The Zaale Homestay offers an authentic Ugandan experience where you will become an immediate addition to the Zaale family and team. You'll be able to immerse yourself in the local culture and enjoy the traditional foods while simultaneously feeling like this is your home away from home. The homestay is located in the Mount Elgon ranges, with stunning surroundings.
The compound consists of five private bedrooms and a dorm in the budget accommodation category, so you will have some privacy as well as enjoying dinner in the main house with the family. The Zaale family has hosted a great number of volunteers and guests over the years, and don't be surprised if you end up staying longer than planned! Your day at Zaale's Homestay may consist of trekking in the Mount Elgon National Park mountain range, having guided tour of the coffee plantations, Volunteering at the PDIschool, or simply sit at the porch and enjoy a local cup of freshly roasted coffee.
As most treks from the homestay do not require to pay the expensive entry fee to the Mt. Elgon national park, you will get the chance to enjoy the mountains at a more affordable price! Activities offered: - Trekking in the Mt. Elgon mountain range - Coffee tours - Volunteering - Village walks.
Getting there: Take a matatu/taxi to bubiita junction (1,5 hour) and then a boda boda to Zaales Homestay, and you will arrive at the compound after a short ride. Or walk 5-10 minutes and just ask for directions. for Volunteering check our site at Workaway for more information.
